For the final exam...
Make sure that you review the units we have covered since January--everything in the second semester. Focus on Dante's Inferno, literary and poetic devices, grammar, and punctuation. There will be reading comprehension questions, so make sure that you take your time and read each passage thoroughly. Refer back to the question after having read the answer choice.

While reading a novel...
Keep in mind while doing our novel studies in class, that you have to keep up with the plot--what is happening in the story. Keeping up with your reading journals is of the utmost importance for 3 reasons:
1. It is a large portion of your grade (Writing & Conventions are 30%).
2. It will help you remember the material by providing you a summarized text to review.
3. It gives you a place to synthesize your thoughts/opinions about the novel.
So, guys, PLEASE keep up with your reading journals! If your already behind, it's not too late to get caught up.

If you want to have your own copy of the novels...
Hey Guys!
We are going to begin our novel study soon, so if you want to have your own copy for class, here are the texts. We will have copies of the text for you, but if you prefer to highlight, write in the margins, or mark in the book, I suggest buying your own copy. If you have difficulty reading, having your own copy would be very beneficial. You can buy a used copy on Amazon.com or Half.com. There are also many used bookstores in the Atlanta and Mableton area.
Mrs. Bogozan's class will be reading The Stranger by Albert Camus. We will be reading the Vintage edition.

Welcome back!
Hey guys!
I hope your break was relaxing and you are ready to "hit the ground running"! Our next unit will be Asian literature (Chinese, Japanese, and Indian texts). We will begin by looking at poetry; ballads and Haiku. Brief information will be provided about various cultural and religious differences between Eastern and Western societies, and this will be further examined in the texts. We will then move onto Zen parables and end our unit by viewing the film, House of Flying Daggers. This unit will culminate into a written essay, in which you will be given guidance and options (so don't fret)! I have listed some sites that might be useful or interesting to you.
